ReWire is the first video game developed by Big Owl Interactive, a game and game manufacturing studio based in Batavia, Illinois. I worked closely with their development team in order to produce a logo that reflected the established art direction of the game, while also adding some unique character to guide further development. The final product is a logomark and logotype aimed at representing the key circuitry and voxel stylings of the game itself.
ReWire remains in development as of the writing of this entry, but an initial release is estimated within the next year.
The logotype for ReWire was intended to focus more on the circuitry side of the game, where the logomark incorporated some circuitry elements alongside the pixel art feel. To maintain the legibility and scalability of the logotype, Futura was employed, and variants with and without the circuit border were developed to ensure maximum compatibility with client needs.
The grayscale variant of this particular logomark posed unique challenges, as the pixel-art feel and fidelity of the colored variant could not be maintained as easily as some other logomarks might. In this particular case, the direction that myself and the client agreed on was to add negative space borders to differentiate the sections of the logo that would have been delineated by color in the original.
